Our questions for this topic are:
1. Why do they come here instead of other places?
2. Why do they leave their prior countries?
3. What main challenges do they face here?
4. What support is there for them?
Key Ideas
Refugees usually have little or no choice about where they go, but the ones that choose to come here come because New Zealand is very open to refugees and is a very safe country. They usually leave because of a crisis in their homeland such as: war, genocide, disease outbreak or natural disasters that destroy their homes. The hardest thing to overcome is often language and coming from a different or remote country they usually don’t speak English, so anything they do here is harder than it would be for us. There are quite a few centres that collect funds to help give the necessary support for the refugees like food, water and shelter.
Our final product will be a Windows Movie Maker presentation
